PCC-backed scheme helps shop workers recover from retail crime

A persistent shoplifter has been welcomed back to a Middlesbrough store as a customer - thanks to restorative justice work!

Through Restorative Cleveland, commissioned by PCC Matt Storey, the offender heard first-hand how their actions had affected staff and apologised for the distress caused. The process helped shop workers feel safer and supported their recovery. ❤️‍🩹
